Lack of Updates...

Slooooooooow system giving me tons of issues. But that's what I get for trying to run on a 10 year old Gateway with 328 MB of RAM and a CPU that shits itself at the site of Javascript. When I started this blog I was using a different PC with 2 GB of RAM, a 2 GHZ CPU, a decent video card with dual outputs, etc. And things were much easier, but that's long gone.

I've started work on a new system which I should have completely finished in a few months. The reason it's taking so long is the expense. Having been inspired by some of the OSX86 builds on various forums, I'm building an 8-core machine using a pair of quad core processors; thus necessitating the use of server components. Although by the time it's finished it should be quite a bit more powerful than your average small business server.

I'll let everyone know how it goes, hell, I may even do a few "build" posts once all of the components have arrived.

I'm not dead

Just really busy. And I have no internets.

Why I've not posted in 2 months

Bad car accident in May. Compressed several vertebrae in my neck and severely bruised the nerve endings in my left arm and both shoulders. I couldn't use my left arm for most of the last 2 months and I've just now become able to stand up relatively straight. I'm still struggling to regain full mobility in my neck and both arms, but hooray for physical therapy and copious amounts of pain killers. The good news is that it wasn't my fault and I got a new(er), nicer car out of it. The bad news is that I'm in pain and in $4,000 worth of debt and climbing because the insurance company won't pay for anything until I'm ready to settle for EVERYTHING. I was also forced to resign from a job I've only had for 3 months because I've spent the last 2 months in physical therapy and they wouldn't let me take a leave of absence. It's going to be an absolute pain in the ass to find someone to match that salary if they won't let me come back which they likely won't. Good times.
